Bootlegger's Mountain Mayhem 3
Roll Models Car Club is proud to announce our 3rd rally style driving event! We will again be staying at the historic Carnegie Hotel in Johnson City, Tennessee. Bootlegger's 3 will aim to travel more than 1500 curves over the course of the weekend!
A fun fact about Johnson City is that it was rumored to be a distribution hub for Al Capone's underground alcohol smuggling network. This network would take the moonshine from the mountains and valleys of the Appalachians to the cities up north. Our event is a small take on what it would be like to make a run to Johnson City through the "back roads" within the mountains of North Carolina and we’ll "take our shine over to Little Chicago."
Our host hotel is a "boutique replica property pays homage to its to namesake “Carnegie Hotel”, first opened in Johnson City, September 27th, 1891, and stood 19 years before succumbing to fire April 3rd, 1910. Traditional decor, charming ambiance, and dedicated staff offer a unique experience of a by gone era; accompanied by all the modern amenities today’s travelers have come to expect." - Carnegie Hotel Website
The event will begin on Thursday morning near Boone, NC and we will all head towards our host hotel. While on the way, we will take on some amazing roads in the mountains heading to get checked in. We will have a banquet style dinner Thursday night after check-in.
Friday we will find our way west of Johnson City on some great roads and we will add a lunch stop during the day and then head back to the hotel for a banquet style dinner.
Saturday will find us again exploring some remote roads around Johnson City. There will be multiple drive groups, each with their own pace, meeting at our lunch stop. We will then continue the day's drive back to the Carnegie Hotel. Saturday night will also have banquet style dinner.
Sunday we will have a breakfast buffet, and we will have a drive planned to take us towards Asheville.
